Police said Sunday a 21-year-old man was in custody in connection with the theft of a Hawaii County Hele-On Bus on Saturday in Hilo.

Police said Sunday a 21-year-old man was in custody in connection with the theft of a Hawaii County Hele-On Bus on Saturday in Hilo.

Kawelo Nakamura was arrested and had yet to be charged in connection with the theft, according to the Hawaii Tribune-Herald.

According to the Hawaii Police Department, the bus was stolen around 4 a.m. Saturday from the county transit yard and found around 3:30 p.m. in Puna.

During the time it was out, the driver of the bus reportedly got into an accident with a passenger vehicle near the Home Depot. A Hawaiian Paradise Park woman and her two young children were uninjured after the minor collision.
